ENGINEERING
Hi you've reached WSIA's Engineering Department. Were not here right now,
were actually out drinking and eating Taco Bell. Over here at WSIA
engineering in between the revelry and napping we actually occasionally find time to
do work!
I'm Laura the Engineering director and if you ever need to know
what I look like (say... if you might be inclined to bring me a present or some Taco Bell.....
anyway) I'm pictured above. We here in the engineering department like audio
(music, voice, SFX, etc... in layman's terms) and the hardware used to make
that audio sound it's best.
Being a college radio station many of our members aren't the professionals
we'd like them to be, and sometimes things get broken. It is our job to fix them.
We work along side the Chief Engineer to make sure the station continues to run
smoothly. To prevent things from breaking more often we must clean and adjust
the equipment on a regular basis. As a member of our engineering department
you will gain intricate knowledge of all station equipment, learn
soldering and wire making, and basic production skills. Engineers also aid in the
recordings of live performances and the broadcast of remote events (ie; SI Yankees,
and call in shows such as Talk Frank with Frank and the Sunday Night Sports
Show). You may even learn some I.T. skills while you're at it. Engineering
is the most hands-on department in the station. Without us the rest of the
station would fall apart! Nothing will work, nothing I tell you!
Honestly the Engineering department works in cooperation with all of the other
departments to create a station that runs with the look and ease of effortlessness.
So come down, check us out & join us, I guarantee fun*.
*I am not Qualified to Guarantee fun. Happy and/or amused students will not
be tolerated under any circumstances. See your local dealer for details.
